Papers contain personal and business papers of Joseph Cohen, a Kansas City banker and lawyer, together with papers of his son, Barton. Consisting of correspondence, business papers, personal and family items, speeches, and newsclippings, the collection documents Joseph Cohen's life from his childhood to his death. Also included are a number of files concerning the disposition of Cohen's estate following his death and memorial tributes in his honor. The collection also contains files by and about Barton Cohen, including newsclippings, correspondence and a large file of family history. Inventory available.

Papers document the life and career of Balfour Brickner, a rabbi, social activist, and leader in the American Reform movement. The collection contains handwritten notes (from sermons and talks), transcribed sermons, and talks, publications, published articles, drafts, essays, correspondence, memos, reports, clippings, circulars and other material documenting Brickner's interests in a range of religious, social, humanitarian, and political issues, together with his involvement and efforts on behalf of numerous movements and organizations. The bulk of the material covers the years 1970 to 2000. Inventory available.

Records document the mid to late 20th century history of the Stephen Wise Free Synagogue, a modern synagogue open to Jews and non-Jews alike. The records reflect the activities of the Synagogue, Social Services Department, Religious School, and Women’s Organization. Inventory available.

(MS-758) KOOPERMAN AND KOOPERMAN RECORDS ON THE JEWISH AGRICULTURAL SOCIETY, INC. LOANS .

Records consist of files of the law firm Kooperman and Kooperman, located in Ellenville, New York, dealing with the firm’s interactions with the Jewish Agricultural Society, its clients, and other stakeholders regarding mortgage origination and closing, insurance, and affidavits and reports of title. The collection reveals the inner workings of how The Jewish Agricultural Society, Inc., made loans to Jewish farmers in the early and mid twentieth century. It documents specific individuals who were assisted in the Catskills region of New York State, and how those individuals used the money loaned. Inventory available.

The International Association of Jewish Vocational Services (formerly the Jewish Occupational Service) is a nonprofit network of 28 national and international human service agencies in major metropolitan areas in the United States, Canada, and Israel. Member agencies provide a vast array of services that have a direct effect on the lives of hundreds of thousands of people each year: career management, skills training, rehabilitation programs, health services, and home and community-based services. Their records include a constitution and bylaws, minutes, reports, conference programs, project files, and photographs documenting regular meetings, coordination of programs and services with agencies, and work with soviet emigres and the aged. Span dates for the collection are 1939-2009. Inventory available.

Papers consist of correspondence and newsletters from the period of Sachs' chaplaincy in Okinawa between 1945 and 1947; correspondence from his years in Palestine/Israel between 1947 and 1949, when he served in the Haganah; and notes and writings from his participation in a civil rights march in Birmingham, Alabama during the 1960s. The bulk of the material covers the years 1945-1949. Inventory available.
