Financial Contributions

The Jacob Rader Marcus Center of the American Jewish Archives preserves and protects the historical record of American Jewry. We need your generous support to ensure that the historical voice of the American Jew is preserved for future generations. Your gifts will be acknowledged formally (for tax purposes) by the Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion (HUC-JIR) -- the AJA's feduciary agent -- as well as by the American Jewish Archives. As a supporter of the AJA, you will receive the American Jewish Archives Journal gratis; information regarding our onsite programs, events, and webinars; and updates relating to the AJA's world-renowned collection.

Donations to the AJA may be made by check that are written to the American Jewish Archives, and mailed to AJA, 3101 Clifton Avenue, Cincinnati, OH 45220.  In addition, you can contribute online.  Your online contribution will be processed through the (HUC-JIR) website. You have the option to contribute specifically to one of the AJA's established funds (see below).   You may also call the AJA and make a donation over the phone by calling 513.487.3218 or contacting Lisa B. Frankel at:  [email protected].

The American Jewish Archives (AJA) has received a grant for $500,000 from the National Endowment for the Humanities to be matched with $1,500,000 in non-federal contributions to construct a new archival repository to house the collection of the Jewish Federations of North America (JFNA), a critical resource for documenting the history of American philanthropy and American Jewry.

The AJA Fellowship Program

The Fellowship Program, which was established in 1977 by the late Dr. Jacob Rader Marcus, provides recipients—graduate students, scholars, and practitioners—with a stipend for research and writing related to the history of North American Jewry.

PUBLICATIONS OF THE AJA »

The American Jewish Archives Journal, published twice yearly, is the primary publication of The Marcus Center. The AJAJ documents and preserves the American Jewish experience through the publication of scholarly articles and primary documents written by academic and talented amateur historians from around the world.

The AJA also publishes special volumes from time to time that focus on a variety of topics relating to the American Jewish experience.

THE AJA EXHIBITION FUND

The overall goal of the permanent gallery exhibit is to use the AJA collection to engage visitors in a compelling experience that  illuminates stories about the American Jewish experience and to expplain the role of an archives in fostering the creation of knowledge about history and communal understanding in America writ large.

The AJA's digitization fund ensures that valuable documents, photographs, and video/audio records housed in our archives are not only preserved but made accessible to all interested patrons anywhere in the world. Join us in safeguarding our collective heritage by contributing to the digitization efforts today!

The American Jewish Archives General Fund

The general fund is used in support of the overall operation of The Marcus Center including direct expenses of preserving and expanding its collection, financing programs as well as maintaining the facility.
